Album Cover & Vinyl Re-design Project

In 2021, I studied a handful of my favorite albums and re-imagined their artwork and vinyl packaging. My goal was to refine my ability to incorporate my illustrations into my design. I focused heavily on hand-rendered elements that are directly connected to the content of the music.

You Are Here Magazine

You Are Here magazine is a guide book for new Visual Communications students, filled with helpful tips and articles written by 2nd and 3rd year students. This tradition was started by the graduating class before mine, and I had the honor of working as the Editor-in-Chief of a small team of people to create Issue #2 in 2020. This project sparked my passion for editorial design, as well as taught me a great deal about leading a creative team. Between the four of us, there was a lot of overlap and I think we all had a hand in almost every spread. Highlighted in the gallery are spreads that I had the biggest hand in creating.

Fifty/Fifty Poetry Book

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Salem’s Chemeketa Community College, they hosted an open entry for past/present students, staff, and faculty to share their anecdotes about the school and what it meant to them, in only 50 words. This book, Fifty/Fifty, is a compilation of those stories. I illustrated all of the cover art and designed all of the interior pages as well. I worked closely with the Chemeketa Press, Chemeketa’s own publishing sector, to refine and perfect everything in this book. As a student at the time, I wanted to focus on what makes Chemeketa unique; to me, this is said in the gorgeous architecture of the buildings, all distinct from one another.

The Silent Forest

A show of skills with a fictional YA novel. As an avid fan of YA novels growing up, I invented this to showcase my typesetting and design abilities. I also illustrated the front cover image of the girl. The filler text is taken from Island of the Blue Dolphins, a YA novel by Scott O’Dell.

Craftwork Company

Craftwork Comapny is a fictional brewery brand based in Portland, OR. I designed the logo and all the packaging for the beer bottles. My idea was to present the brand as sophisticated but approachable for new drinkers. The simplicity of the bottle design and illustration is meant to charming and easy to understand.
